The results of our work are diverse, ranging from a sustainable sushi menu for a local restaurant to transformation trajectories for cities. What is always the same is our approach; we apply the Symbiosis in Development (SiD) framework, a comprehensive systems thinking based method that finds the root cause of issues and delivers powerful systemic levers for change.
Using SiD, we find key strategies to realize effective change for less, and new ways to orchestrate the way we live, work, play, eat, produce, and prosper.
Since our inception, our designs always considered a light touch on the planet, low in carbon and energy-use: a new minimalism that helps us and our clients to mitigate the impact of climate change.
While low-energy design is no longer radical, it is more important than ever. We have and interest in reducing both embodied energy and whole life cycle energy consumption.
Our historic environment is a shared resource which we are entrusted to look after, and re-using existing buildings is the most sustainable way to create new spaces. Working within these environments requires the highest standards of architectural design coupled with a considered and sensitive understanding of significance in all its many guises.
We endeavour to control the amount of material used in construction and maintenance of our building designs and reduce waste through the use of recycled materials, pre-fabrication and waste management. We have a dedicated Technical Services Group who advise on material specification including FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified timber, low GWP (global warming potential), low ODP (ozone depletion potential) and recycled materials.
Our architecture has developed within an integrated approach to the wider project stakeholders, communities and neighbourhoods. Through our pioneering work, we endeavour to create architecture which achieves our clients’ goals and the aspirations of the wider community.
